Unsung Heroes Awards
13th January 2026
Do you know someone who lives, works or volunteers in Dalton ward who makes a difference in their community? We’re celebrating the everyday champions who go the extra mile for others – and we need your nominations. An unsung hero could be someone who volunteers for a group in the community, someone who works hard to care for others or keep people safe, an employee who goes above and beyond for others, someone who is a good neighbour, someone who’s kindness you just feel deserves recognition. There’s no criteria apart from them having a connection to the Dalton ward. If you think they’re an unsung hero we do too!
Dalton Together and Unite Respect Connect, with funding support from our three ward councillors, want to celebrate some of the amazing things happening in our ward, particularly the things that often go unseen and unmentioned and we need your help to identify the amazing people doing amazing things.
Every unsung hero is special and we want to acknowledge that. This is not a competition to find the best hero but a chance to celebrate the breadth of great things happening in the area. Unsung heroes and a guest will be invited to a special celebration event on Friday 20th March 6.00pm where they’ll be food and entertainment and gifts for all nominees. In the event that we have more nominations than we have spaces names will go in to a draw but everyone will receive recognition of their nomination.
Nominate your Unsung Hero using the form below or e-mail info@uniterespectconnect.org.uk for more information and an entry form. Unsung heroes can be any age but if you are nominating someone under 18 please get their parent or carer’s permission and use their contact details rather than the nominee’s.
Nominations must be received by Sunday 1st March.
Ideally, we’d like you to let them know they are being nominated and get permission to share their contact details but if you aren’t able to do this, we will get in touch with you instead.
